On Hiatus

As the title says, I’m going to be taking a little break from Second Life to focus on some real life issues.  The blog here will be on hiatus until I return.  Until we meet again…

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Firebrick

Skin:  Pink Fuel;  Elly, Honey Pure
Hair:  Exile;  Drucilla, chardonnay
Shirt:  Jane;  Moody, deep v, delicious

Another hectic week, as evidenced by the fact that I haven’t posted anything in over a week.  Bad blogger!  I shall punish myself with a trip to Krispy Kreme.  It may not sound like a punishment, but when I step on the scale after eating them…it will be.

Touche

Skin:  Al Vulo;  Miha, soleil milk  (My Second Wardrobe)
Hair:  Exile;  Georgina, Chardonnay, roots
Shirt:  Touche;  Racer Tank, salt
Skirt:  Touche;  Gum Skirt, marmalade (La Venta Eventa)
Shoes:  Ricielli;  The Python set (The Dressing Room)
Necklace:  A:S:S;  Narayan necklace (My Second Wardrobe)
Furnishings:  Crackberry;  Taste of Fall set (La Venta Eventa)

Its so hard to believe that Fall is already creeping in.  Much slower in some places than others, but still visible on the horizon.  Its my favorite season (though I could do without all of the holiday stress) and recently its hues have become some of my most loved.  The golds, reds and oranges I used to avoid like the plague are now threatening to take over my wardrobe.  I had always thought browns so dull, but now they feel comforting and cozy to me.

This skirt and the furniture pieces combine all these shades I’ve come to adore.  I love that the hem and waist follow the circular patterns of the skirts instead of a straight crease, giving it a very delicate appearance.

The runner on the table and the throw on the bench are clickable to color-change, sticking with the autumn tones.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: TCWSNBN

Skin:  Mons
Hair:  Truth
Shirt and Pants:  Cynful  (subscribo gift)
Shoes:  Berries, Inc.

An extremely hectic weekend makes me later than usual with my post and with incomplete styling notes, but oh well.  This week’s color makes me physically ill just thinking of it, so it will be known as The Color Which Shall Not Be Named(Click on the link to Luna’s post if you really must know.)

I went with the shading from the color swatch again instead of what I associated with this shade in my mind.  Probably a good thing since it allowed me to actually put together the outfit, shoot and edit the picture without yakking up my breakfast.

Bubblegum Weekends 2

Skin:  Mons;  Alessa, limited edition (TDR Blue)
Hair:  Exile;  Georgina, frost (tinted hot pink)
Dress:  Sticky Fingers;  My Little Zebra  (Lazy Sunday)
Shoes:  Berries Inc.;  Belinda pumps  (Lazy Sunday)

I had a difficult time with this week’s picture.  Since I don’t own much “bubblegum” hair, I thought I’d take one of the white shades and tint it.  The color came out right, but once I turned on shadows, the hair ends got very messy looking.

I was so focused on how the hair looked that I neglected noticing that I had forgotten to put on my auto-focus hud for my eyes.  So my eyes were looking off in all sorts of strange directions in each one of the raw pictures I took.

(Disclaimer:  For the picture, I did a lot of editing on the dress around the waist seam and the prim piece for the skirt.)

Utopia Again

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, pale 01
Hair:  Catwa;  Sumaya, V2, swedish
Dress:  Utopia;  Alena, silver (with bangles)
Bracelet:  Mandala;  Milky Way bangle, white

I needed another formal gown for our Sunday evenings at Elegance Ballroom and I was surfing through Marketplace when I ran across this exquisite dress from Utopia.  It shimmered in shades of silver, from bright white to metallic gray and offered a few different accessory options.  I went with the necklace and bangle (seen on my extended arm) combination.

Bubblegum Weekends 1

Skin:  Al Vulo;  Miha, soleil milk (My Second Wardrobe)
Hair:  Truth;  Gabriel, granny (Collabor88)
Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus special edition, currant

This is my first go at Bubblegum Weekends, simply because I just don’t own too many unusual hair shades.  But I picked up this style from Collabor88 and since it was a fatpack, I had all sorts of bubblegummy colors to choose from!

I just went very simple to start with, though my mind is already teaming with ideas for future posts.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Chartreuse

Skin:  Al Vulo;  Miha, soleil, milk (My Second Wardrobe)
Hair:  Truth;  Gabriel, champagne (Collabo88)
Dress:  Waffle;  Racerback dress, lime green
Earrings:  Zaara;  Anjami chandelier earrings, gold (Platinum Hunt)

Chartreuse and puce are probably tied for my least favorite colors.  I own no chartreuse anything.  See up there in the styling credits for the dress where it says “lime green”?  We’re going to pretend it says “chartreuse”.  You all have great imaginations.  I know you can do it.

Color interpretations can be relatively subjective.  In my head, I’d always seen chartreuse as more of an olivey shade with some yellow thrown in for good measure.  The swatch given by Luna in last week’s post looked more like lime green.  So I found two outfits, took and edited two pictures, then decided which one I wanted to use.  The other one was yesterday’s blog called So Sparkly!.

Next week’s color is Liver.  Is it gray?  Is it brown?  Either way, I get nauseous just thinking about Liver.

So Sparkly!

Skin:  Lara Hurley;  Dessa (Platinum Hunt)
Hair:  Clawtooth;  Glowing review, orange you glad (50L Fridays)
Dress:  Sea Hole;  Cassia mini dress, peridot (Collabor88 subcribo gift)

Shoes:  Maitreya;  Basic pumps, black (subscribo gift)

I was fairly proud of myself for this look.  I put it all together with finds from hunts, sales and events and cost under $ 60L !

The skin was 10L, the hair 50L, the dress and shoes were free subscribo gifts from Collabor88 and Maitreya.
