52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Lemon

Skin:  Pink Fuel;  Elly, milk, angelic
Hair:  Truth;  Pandora, champagne streaked
Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus, ocean
Shirt:  Indyra Originals;  Kaegan Cowl Necked Jersey top, aurora
Shorts:  Maitreya;  Jean shorts, faded
Bracelets:  League;  Wanderer & Miel;  Chum

I went pretty much down-to-the-wire with this week’s challenge due to some RL issues and I’m just now writing the post to go with the picture right before I publish it.

Thank goodness Lemon was easy enough for me to assemble.  Not because of an abundance of yellow items, but just the opposite and only having a few in my inventory.  I’ve always felt that as a blonde, yellow tones kinda washed me out.  Its only been recently that I’ve been picking up a few here and there.  I have so few yellow items, I actually had to go back to my pictures for Yellow, Goldenrod, and Banana to make sure I hadn’t used this top before.

I finally gave in and got the Elly skin from Pink Fuel and I’ve got it ranked among my top two favorite skins in my inventory.  I’ve also been branching out with my eyes, using Aphotic Gloom (instead of my usual Negaposi) and in shades other than green.

I’m excited about next week’s color, Patriarch, a rich royal purple!

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Jade

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, medium 10
Eyes:  Leezu;  Deep Reflection Eyes, Turquoise, large
Lashes:  Redgrave;  #14, feather
Hair:  YunA’s;  # 38, platinum 01
Dress:  Utopia;  Frida, emerald, shirt C w/ shoulder caps and single scarf option
Jewelry:  Mandala;  Kabuki, silver phoenix

This week’s color was jade and while I know it comes in other shades that are just as beautiful, I decided to stick with the classic green that everyone seems to associate with that color.

I had some other photo series work in progress and kinda procrastinated doing my look and I am so glad I did so I could use this new gown from Utopia called Frida. It comes with five (yes, FIVE) different tops, two scarf options, shoulder caps, necklace and even a tiara!  It can go from looking like a classic slinky formal gown to an asian-influenced futuristic look.  I tried to go for a look somewhere in the middle of the two.

I kept with the general Asian feel and accessorized with Mandala’s newest set of bangles and nails, Kabuki in silver.  Though you can’t see them, I was wearing the Coquette shoes in silver from Indyra Originals.

Culture Shock Finds

I’m a fair/faire fanatic.  There, I said it.  I love all the different types of clothing/shoes/hair/skins all in one place and I always go nuts and spend more than I really should.

Such was the case at the Culture Shock event.  Designers have come together to help a very worthy cause, Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) where each one is donating a certain percentage of sales on selected items in their booth.

Left-  Kunglers;  Katherine shirt, floral
Middle-  Sassy Kitty;  Willow skirt, white
Right-  Fishy Strawberry;  Country Life shirt, moss

The site is huge…I mean HUGE, with so many booths, I lost count.  I spent a couple hours there yesterday and only managed to make it through half of the offerings.  And not only was it clothing, but there was poses, furniture, hair and shoes.

Left-  Indyra Originals;  Elora
Middle-  Swansong;  Siam Maxi Dress, orchid
Right-  Peqe;  Flow, lilac

Here are just a few of my favorite finds, mostly shirts for some reason.  All the pictures shown here are completely unedited, except to fit them in the template.

I was pleasantly surprised to find many creators I’d never heard of before which are now added to a shopping list to visit their main stores and keep an eye out for new releases.

Left-  Swansong;  Sumatra, ocean
Middle- Fishy Strawberry;  Peyote Mini, Wash A
Right- Addict;  Nouvelle, peach

After getting home, opening all my bags and boxes and trying everything on…I was also surprised to find I was only disappointed with one item (due to severely misaligned seams). So overall, the level of quality in what the designers provided was superb.

So if you’re feeling altruistic or just need a shopping fix, reduce your prims and ARC count and jump on over to the Culture Shock site.

In Formal Attire

Skin:  Laqroki;  Nellie, Fair 06
Hair:  Vive9;  Bruna, Sand Dollar
Gown:  AlaFolie; Miss Philipines Version 1
Shoes:  Indyra Originals;  Coqeutte Noir Sandals, silver
Jewelry:  Miam Miam; Amethyst Jewel Bangle & VG Republic; Thin Metal Bangles

Xan’s Tux:  Lapointe & Bastchild;  Couture Tuxedo, Pewter

Couple Pose:  Exposeur;  Stuck on You

Its always a pleasure sorting through my SL closet to get all dressed up for a night of romance, especially when I run across a gown this fabulous.  I don’t quite remember when I got this one, but I do remember thinking I should save it for a special occasion.

I was right.  The dress, the shoes, the hair, the makeup, the tux and especially the man all came together for one very magical night of music and dancing at the Elegance BallroomFor the first hour we were there, a DJ played some of the standards you’d expect to hear.  We received a special treat though when one of their singers, Krisie Snowdrop, showed up (with entourage) to entertain us for the next hour.  She had a very lovely voice and an eclectic choice of melodies that provided a very different, but pleasurable ballroom experience.
