Escape from Risk City

I just recently saw on Marketplace that Khush has a new prop/pose set out called Fun With Cuffs that I just HAD to have.  I didn’t know what I would do with it yet, but I wanted to make sure I had it when the idea started forming.

It didn’t take long.

I’m a fan of Snake Plissken, the hero of John Carpenter’s Escape From New York and Escape from L.A.  As I was exploring the art sim, Risk City, I noticed that there were elements I could work with to create my own version.

The set includes four poses and four versions of the handcuffs to be used with each pose, which are very well-created.  I’ll certainly have to try to find Khush’s store in-world.  And what better to wear?  Twisted & Spoiled had the perfect outfit with their No Angel design.

Will I make my escape?  Will I make it out of those cuffs?  Will I even want to?

I’ve had the yearning lately to dust off the vintage bike, roll out to a riding sim and feel the wind in my hair (and the bugs in my teeth) again.  No helmet laws in SL to worry about.  But I’m not sure the old girl is up to it anymore.  The BIKE, not ME!  I’m not ready for a Hoveround Scooter yet.

While she’s at the garage getting a check-up, I may start scouting around looking for a place with open roads and plenty of freedom.  Of course these places usually have bike shops and who knows, I may end up with a new one (or two).  But I have the clothes for it already, especially these super-cute jeans from League.  I drooled over these for several visits to the store, but always talked myself out of buying.  Don’t have to ask if my butt looks big in these, they’re just right and the prim bandana is color-change!!!  I’m definitely going back to buy more colors.

~~Oh, yeah, that’s right. That’s what’s it’s all about, all right. But talkin’ about it and bein’ it, that’s two different things. I mean, it’s real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace. Of course, don’t ever tell anybody that they’re not free, ’cause then they’re gonna get real busy killin’ and maimin’ to prove to you that they are. Oh, yeah, they’re gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it’s gonna scare ’em. ~~from Easy Rider

I’m usually very critical when it comes to my own pictures and editing.  But sometimes, on rare occasions, when you’re putting together a look, setting the scene and doing post-processing, everything seems to fall into place effortlessly.

This week’s color was like a thunderbolt for me and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it.  What actually took me the longest, was finding the sim I wanted to use as a backdrop.  I loved the look as a whole and that’s why I listed what else I was wearing, though during editing I decided that cropping the picture was more effective in portraying the overall look I was going for.  By omitting my usual editing to the eyes, it came together exactly as planned for an indifferent, dead expression and gritty feel.

Music also helps me to get the mood right in a picture, so this week I’m going to share the playlist I used during editing:

“Hear Me Now” – Hollywood Undead
“Isolation” – Alter Bridge
“Not Strong Enough” – Apocalyptica ft. Brent Smith
“Lies of the Beautiful People” – Sixx AM
“Art of Dying” – Die Trying
“Last Man Standing” – Pop Evil
“Porn Star Dancing” – My Darkest Days w/ Ludacris, Chad Kroeger and Zakk Wylde
“The Animal” – Disturbed
“Say You’ll Haunt Me” – Stone Sour
“Fix Me” – 10 Years
“Country Song” – Seether
“Bad Company” – Five Finger Death Punch
“Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom) – Shinedown

On to next week’s challenge, Eggplant.  I have many purple options, but none that exact shade.  Yay!  Shopping!
