Finally Found: Kik Hair

Style:  Nina, platinum

I only check the feeds about once a week and even then its usually only the first page, just to see if there’s anything else new that I absolutely must have for my wardrobe.  I’ve noticed in the past couple weeks through the Hair Fair coverage that [kik] hair has been mentioned a lot.  *squeees*  Another hair designer find!

Style:  Bennett, blonde

I love the first time I go to a new-to-me store and come across so many must haves that my Linden dollar balance goes into shock from massive hemorrhage.

Style:  Fiona, platinum

And I really heart when there’s just so many things I want that I have to mentally rein myself in and make a vow to come back to buy more later.  That was the case with Kik hair.  After almost five years of wearing pixel perfect hair, its a really nice change to come across some well-done messy styles.

Style:  Fine I, platinum

Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus, ocean

The In Skins

Hair 1:  Catwa;  Sumaya V2, platinum
Skin 1:  Curio;  Candy, Moonbeam, dark Sugar Town 2

Two skin releases have been causing a stir lately.  The first from Curio is Candy and its very sweet.  I absolutely love the makeups and the detail in Curio skins.  I usually don’t wear Curio because the face shading always seem to be too light in comparison with the body and I just prefer it to be not as visible.  But a tip I read from another blogger said the lighter skin tones weren’t as noticeable.  I would give credit with a link to her blog, but I can’t for the life of me remember who it was.  Apologies!

I popped over to Curio and tried on some of the moonbeam shades and it was true enough!  I adore the Candy line and I’ll certainly be going back to try demos in the lighter skin tone for some of the other newer releases.

Hair 2:  Truth;  Bree, champagne
Skin 2:  Baiastice;  Nina, porcelaine, makeup 8 brown

The next skin is from Baiastice.  I’m not very familiar with this brand and in fact didn’t even know they made skins, so it was a pleasure to find them.  The faces for Nina are stunning in their beauty!  I think I need to adjust my shape a bit and scale down the lips some because they seem a bit too full.

I also learned a very valuable lesson when skin shopping:  Don’t wear hair that covers the sides of your face and cheeks when selecting the makeup style.  The heavy extended eye-line would be gorgeous with darker hair or complexion, but is way too much for my pale skin and blond hair.

Other items in pictures:
Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus, ocean
Lashes:  LeLutka;  2011 Curl lashes
Shirt:  Berries Inc.;  Basic shirt, lemon
Earrings:  Purple Moon;  Roses, vintage copper

P.S. – Just a little note that I’m on vacation and away from home until Friday, August 4, 2011.  All posts published during this week have been previously edited and awaiting publication in my Drafts.

More From the Mansion

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, pale 1
Hair:  LeLutka;  Loose, sweeden
Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus, watermelon
Lingerie:  The Whore Mansion;  Neglige Intimate
Bracelets:  League;  Wanderer bracelet & Miel;  Chum bracelet

When I made my first trip to The Whore Mansion last week, I picked up several items, some that all modesty prevents me from highlighting here.  But I can show off my new lingerie.  It looks so comfortable and soft, I wish I had one like it in RL.

My new Chum bracelet from Miel and the Loose hair from LeLutka are quickly becoming part of my go-to wardrobe.  And for a great bargain…the Watermelon eyes from Aphotic Gloom were only $ 1 L on Marketplace!

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Celadon

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, pale 11
Hair:  LeLutka;  Knotted, sweeden
Eyes:  Leezu;  Deep Reflection Eyes, green
Tshirt:  Jane;  Layering Tee, celery
Long Sleeve Shirt:  Jane;  Sheer Layers, eucalyptus
Jeans:  Twisted & Spoiled;  T&S jeans, antique
Scarf:  Jane;  Floret tie, avocado
Jewelry:  League;  Wanderer bracelet & Miel;  Chum bracelet

Until this week’s color challenge, I had only heard “celadon” in reference to the beautiful jade-colored Chinese Song Dynasty pottery pieces.  It was a challenge to try to put together a look that would fittingly represent the stunning pieces I remember seeing.

Can I also say how much in love I am with this hair from LeLutka’s Hair Fair booth this year???  It comes with tattoo hair bases that specifically match each shade in the color pack.

As you can see, I’m still practicing with SL shadows.  I’ve found a few Windlight settings that seem to work well with my style.  I do alright against a studio backdrop, but they don’t seem to show as well when I go out into the wilds of a sim.

He Does Like To Shop…

So surfing around the SL blogs, I run across the sites by Lourdes Denimore and Salvatore Otoro where they both discuss the challenge they undertook that originated on the Beauty Riot blog called Dare:  I Let My Boyfriend Dress Me.  They took a cute concept, adapted it for SL and came up with a great experiment I wanted to undertake.

So I approached Xan with the idea (though “approached” makes it sound like he had a choice).  More like I begged him to help me with this blog post by shopping around and finding me a complete outfit to wear.  He readily agreed until the anxiety set in when I pointed out I’d need hair, shoes and accessories.  I took pity on him and pointed him to a couple of the blog feeds to help him get the names of women’s clothing stores.  Instead, he fell in love (lust?) with one of the outfits and decided to try to re-create it himself.

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, medium 9
Hair:  LeLutka;  Inverted, glucose
Top:  Mon Tissu;  Lace crop top, white
Skirt:  So Many Styles;  Floral high waist skirt, blue
Belt:  Miel;  Cali cords, black
Lingerie:  Mon Tissu;  Floral lingerie, black
Socks:  Kyoot;  Lacey white knee socks, lace 2
Shoes:  Pixel Mode;  Baby T’s, black
Jewelry:  Mandala;  Necklace & Bracelets Pearl Rain, onyx

He did an admirable job copying the look and putting his own spin on it, creating something I would have never chosen myself, but ended up liking anyway.  And because he was such a good sport and completed the challenge on a very tight deadline I set for him…I also took a picture without the top and skirt, modeling just the lingerie.
