52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Firebrick

Skin:  Pink Fuel;  Elly, Honey Pure
Hair:  Exile;  Drucilla, chardonnay
Shirt:  Jane;  Moody, deep v, delicious

Another hectic week, as evidenced by the fact that I haven’t posted anything in over a week.  Bad blogger!  I shall punish myself with a trip to Krispy Kreme.  It may not sound like a punishment, but when I step on the scale after eating them…it will be.

Sometimes the Wait is Worth It

Skin:  Pink Fuel;  Elly, milk, angelic
Hair:  Clawtooth;  Pretty Words, snow
T-shirt:  Tres Blah;  Used raglan 4
Shorts:  Maitreya;  Jean shorts, faded
Socks:  Jane;  Lil piggies, rugby knee hi, milk
Shoes:  SoReal;  Superstars, white/blue/red
Bracelets:  League;  Wanderer & Miel; Chum bracelets

I love being a tomboy every now and again and this raggedy shirt is perfect for those casual days at home.  I saw this shirt on one of the “bargain” lists  (FLF, SBS, TOSL…I honestly don’t remember which one it was) and I knew I had to have it.

I love Tres Blah items, but I always seem to have a problem rezzing items in that sim, so I don’t go very often.  It makes me kinda sad that most days I don’t have the time or the patience to deal with all that, but for this shirt it was worth it.  I was able to put together another new casual favorite for days when I just don’t feel like getting all dressed up.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Celadon

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, pale 11
Hair:  LeLutka;  Knotted, sweeden
Eyes:  Leezu;  Deep Reflection Eyes, green
Tshirt:  Jane;  Layering Tee, celery
Long Sleeve Shirt:  Jane;  Sheer Layers, eucalyptus
Jeans:  Twisted & Spoiled;  T&S jeans, antique
Scarf:  Jane;  Floret tie, avocado
Jewelry:  League;  Wanderer bracelet & Miel;  Chum bracelet

Until this week’s color challenge, I had only heard “celadon” in reference to the beautiful jade-colored Chinese Song Dynasty pottery pieces.  It was a challenge to try to put together a look that would fittingly represent the stunning pieces I remember seeing.

Can I also say how much in love I am with this hair from LeLutka’s Hair Fair booth this year???  It comes with tattoo hair bases that specifically match each shade in the color pack.

As you can see, I’m still practicing with SL shadows.  I’ve found a few Windlight settings that seem to work well with my style.  I do alright against a studio backdrop, but they don’t seem to show as well when I go out into the wilds of a sim.

Finally Found: The Whore Mansion

Skin:  Belleza;  Aiko, pale 1
Hair:  Clawtooth;  Pretty Words, bombshell blonde
Eyes:  Aphotic Gloom;  Clarus, watermelon
Shirt:  The Whore Mansion;  Suck My Top, cool white
Skirt:  The Whore Mansion;  Candie’s skirt, pattern dots
Socks:  Jane;  Lil Piggies Sassy socks, milk
Shoes:  UBU;  PornStar xtra high tops
Bracelets:  League;  Wanderer bracelet & Miel;  Chum bracelet

Thanks to Luna Jubilee’s Mauve Color Challenge post, I finally managed to find The Whore Mansion.  Now its no secret to anyone that knows me that I like to bust out (literally) the slutty clothes occasionally.  And with a boyfriend that really appreciates short skirts, I find myself in them more often than not lately.  The Whore Mansion was a perfect shopping site for all my tight, low-cut and micro-skirt needs.

I couldn’t resist this little mix n’ match outfit in hot pink and virginal white that gave me an 80’s vibe.  I decided not to go with the expected Do-Me stilettos and went kinda tomboyish with the over-the-knee socks and hightops.

I also got to show off one of my Hair Fair finds from Clawtooth and my new eyes from Aphotic Gloom (referred by a post on Gogo’s blog).

Beachin’ Dude!

Skin:  Laqroki;  Linnea, Fair 04, light brows
Hair:  Elikatira;  Melody, Blonde 07
Shirt:  A:S:S;  69 Raglan, green
Shorts:  Tres Blah;  Denim Cutoffs, Light
Socks:  JANE;  Lil piggies, rugby, Milk
Shoes:  SOREAL;  Superstars, White/Blue-Red
Necklace:  EarthStones;  Stone Donut Leather Necklace, Green Apatite/Brown

I miss my island.  I miss my beach.  In fact, I missed it so much, I had to go and buy a small plot of beachfront property (which somehow manages to be right smack in the middle of several horse ranches).  I’ve been hard at work building a pier and new beach house and needed a break.

I’ve been using a lot of Distressed Textures in my builds recently and I could spend hours and thousands of Linden there.  They just moved their mainstore last week and the new sim is a great place for pictures.  There was a sim photo contest running and I’m not sure of the deadline for submissions, so make sure to drop by and see the details to find out when it ends.  If you don’t have time to visit in-world, most everything is available conveniently on Marketplace.

I can’t wait til I’m done and can begin the fun part of decorating!  I found so many cute new things at Cheeky Pea, Clutter, Crackberry, MudHoney, and Awesome Blossom.  It seems there are so many stores out with tons of adorable shabby chic pieces, its hard to stay focused and choose selectively what I really need and I just buy everything!

Of course, I did take some shopping time away from the new project to go grab this cute shirt and the shorts my sis, Bubbles, featured from Tres Blah last week.  The rest of my list will have to wait…I think I need more textures.

Finally Found…Izzie’s and Al Vulo

Skin:  Al Vulo; Ninni, Fairy, Red
Hair:  Exile;  Oceane, whiskey
Eyes:  Exodi;  Riven Eyes, Grasshopper
Lashes:  Laqroki; Mascara 01, Black, Natural
Vest:  Izzie’s; Draped Vest, Blue
Shirt:  Twisted & Spoiled;  Vest, Neutral Pack, White
Skirt:  Maitreya;  Cleo Jean Skirt, Light Wash
Socks:  JANE;  Lil Piggies socks, rugby knee hi, Milk
Shoes:  Pixel Mode;  Baby T’s, Royal
Bracelets:  Frangiapani Designs;  Black Pearl & Silver Cuff (r) & Double Plait Bangle (l)

One of the things I love about the special/bargain lists that come out weekly is that I find creators that are new-to-me (even though they may have been around for years).  I haven’t lived under a fashion rock, but often I go gushing to a friend about some store I just ran across and they’re like, “Where you been, they’ve been around forever”.  *Sighs*

I’m not sure how long Izzie’s has been open, but I just finally found them from the Lazy Sunday list this past weekend.  The more I looked around, the more I wanted and I had to force myself to leave after buying a couple pieces or I would have bought out the whole store.  I love the rich texture on the vest and the way the bottom prims flow.  You can’t see the shoulders because of the hair, but there is some cute detailing there as well.

I also finally found Al Vulo skins.  They are beautifully done and less than a thousand Linden each, which *I* consider affordable.  Most of my SL life, I’ve favored skins with heavily-lined eyes with thick, black lashes, which seems to be a consistent feature  with these skins.  I decided to go all-out with the one I selected and chose a red lip (unusual for me).

Picknic in Bed

Hair- Elikatira; Melody, Blonde 07
Skin- Laqroki; Phoebe2, Fair 05
Shirt- JANE; Francie So Innocent blouse, Milk
Pants- Zaara; Chirudar slacks, Mint
Shoes- Pixel Mode; Baby T’s, Dew
Bracelet- League; Wanderer set
Bed- Mudhoney; Mia Palette Bed

I’m still on “Spring Break” and using my laptop, so I’m away from all my nifty Photoshop editing tools.  I knew this would be the case, so I edited a few before I left home.  But what’s a blogger to do when she’s just not feeling any of the pre-made pictures?  I remembered that Flickr has some editing tools called Picknic (found under the Actions menu on each photo).

I had been searching for a new bed for the skybox I just built and finally found one by Mudhoney that was featured in one of the Saturday specials this past weekend.  The home-y patchwork fits in wonderfully with my new decor and it has several individual and couple poses built in.  I also picked up this adorable flowy blouse from JANE and wanted to show it off as well.

Since I was on my laptop, I decided not to attempt a high-rez photo, so the quality isn’t up to my usual standards to begin with.  But Picknik has some very basic editing and effects options for Flickr users and more available if you pay a fee for a premium account (yearly is approx. $25.00 USD).  Its layout is straightforward, simple to use and there’s is even an option to load the edited picture back into Flickr with the click of a button.
