The Journey

If asked a year ago, one thing I would not have anticipated doing in SL was going sailing.  Just goes to show that ya never can tell.

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end”  ~Ursula K. LeGuin

I had absolutely no idea that there were a number of linked Linden sims full of open water for sailing.  But a trip with Xan around the Blake Sea was quite an education on how popular this pastime has become in Second Life.  I saw yacht clubs, sailing schools, boat works, and marinas.  You can rent slips to store your watercraft, you can rez it at a private beach or at one of the public rez zones available.

The Greenhouse

One of the most stunning areas we saw along our sight-seeing trip was a beautiful botanical garden sim called The Greenhouse.  We dropped sail for a few minutes so I could capture an aerial shot, but it doesn’t even begin to do justice to the beauty of it.  Its definitely a place I want to return to and take a tour about in leisure.

“The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.”  ~Don Williams, Jr.

Though missing the smell of the ocean, the salt spray and the breeze in your hair, all in all, sailing in SL is almost as relaxing and enjoyable as the real thing.
